In Mali, more than half the population lives below the poverty line.
More than half the country is desert, and widespread poverty, combined with conflict-induced instability, has led to alarming levels of child malnutrition. Malnutrition rates exceed the critical threshold at the national level, and Mali’s northern Sahel region is in a state of ongoing nutritional emergency.
The situation in Mali remains extremely fragile, reflecting the complexity of a country subjected to multiple pressures, such as persistent armed conflict, climate shocks, and floods, as well as significant shortages in health facilities.
The combination of instability and climate crisis has led to severe nutritional deficiencies.
In 2024 alone, malnutrition increased sharply, with approximately 1.6 million children requiring nutritional support.
This is my novelistic perception of an emotional journey into the social folds of Malian daily life. A bridge between my experience and the real life in a land of traditions and ancient history.
